The word whaea in te reo Māori means mother or aunty. Whaea is often used by students to address a female teacher and matua is used to address a male teacher.
These beautiful Whaea earrings have been specifically designed for those special wāhine (women) teachers, that hold the mana and the title of Whaea which holds much more regard than just the title of teacher.
Packaged in an adorable little eco-friendly glass bottle with cork lid.
These beautiful Whaea earrings have been made with fine brass dipped in 18kt gold, covered with a clear tarnish resistance to protect them from the elements, on hypoallergenic surgical steel hooks.
Little Taonga means treasure or prized possession in Maori culture. Each design captures a little something to be treasured - the places, nature, and icons that make Aotearoa New Zealand so special.
Little Taonga treasures are designed by Ngāi Tahu and Rangitāne artist, Cezanne Lyons, drawing inspiration from her culture and love for Aotearoa. Cezanne lives in Mangamaunu, a picturesque coastal settlement just north of Kaikōura, where much of her inspiration comes from being surrounded by spectacular nature, wildlife, and rich culture.
Size : Approx. 3.5 cm (including hook)
