These dual earrings that contrast the beautiful grey with bright colours of the Kōkako wattles have been made from single-use PLA (3D printer waste) in Christchurch, NZ by Remix Plastic.
In Māori myth, the kōkako filled its wattles with water and brought it to Maui as he fought the sun. Maui rewarded the bird by making its legs long and slender, enabling it to bound through the forest with ease.
All pieces of Remix Plastic are made from local plastic waste diverted from landfill and are embedded with the concepts of kaitiakitanga (guardianship, protection, preservation) and circular economy. Each piece carries a sustainability story and makes them a tangible way to engage people in sustainability.
