This Hei Tiki has been carved from pounamu (greenstone) by Moreton carvers based in Hokitika, South Island.
Tiki represent the first man born and are associated with fertility. They have become a cultural icon in New Zealand, and are seen as a symbol of good luck and a link to the past, present, and future.
